Karen Peterson,
LCSW-R, PMH-C

CLINICAL DIRECTOR / PSYCHOTHERAPIST

If I could choose one thing for you to remember, it would be that there is relief on the other side of suffering and pain doesn’t have to last forever. I want you to know that your story is worthy of being heard, you’re not alone in your struggles, and you deserve to feel good.

My overall approach as a therapist is to validate your emotions and teach you how to cope with them or make changes to reduce their negative impact. I enjoy using an integrative and trauma-informed clinical approach to my work, based on your individual needs. My clinical style draws from client-centered, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and interpersonal modalities.

My therapy superpower is…

Making connectionsβ€”connections between your experiences and current ways of thinking or behaving, connections with you regardless of the ways we may be different, and helping you increase connections with supportive people in your world.

My clients describe me as…

Empathic, relatable, down-to-earth, committed to them, on their side, humorous, motivated, and persistent in helping them feel better.

If therapy with me had a theme song, it’d be…

β€œSeasons of Love” from the musical Rent. β€œHow do you measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In 525,600 minutesβ€”how do you measure a year in the life? How about love? Measure in love.”
